Crackers

So i looked around my cupboards today when my groceries arrived and realised i almost didn't have room to fit it all in the pantry and freezer. And no i don't have a small pantry, in fact it's huge! Somehow i bought all the things i thought i needed for the next week but in reality my pantry was already bursting at the seams.
I'm stuck in a rut with my cooking, eating the same things day in day out. So having all this food yet nothing to eat i've decided to go back to the basics and make more from scratch.

No more buying! other than fresh fruit and veges, until the cupboard is back under control!

So for a start instead of buying more crackers i decided to make my own. A quick google search turned up hundreds of choices so i settled on a variant of wabisabibaby's recipe and made whole wheat cracker with parmesan and herbs.

Ok so they don't look very exciting but they were so easy to make and totally delicious! and the flavour combinations are endless.

I thought it was only decent to eat the rough edge bits straight away. a few of them. with cheese. Also they were very popular with the baby who crunched away on a few today and then quickly tried to steal mine when he finished them. Good sign.

Give these a go you won't be disappointed.

Whole wheat crackers

2 cups wholemeal flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
2 t dried herbs (i used rosemary)
2 t garlic powder
3 T parmesan cheese
1t salt
1t sugar

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl or food processor and add in

3 T oil
3/4 C water

and mix together to form a dough.
Then roll out and put on a oiled over tray and cut into squares and cook in a moderate oven for 12-15 mins until the edges of the crackers start to brown.
(Watch them closely they can quickly become overcooked.)

Totally addictive and i think they would go really well with a sharp cheddar, but no i won't be going out to buy any.
Enjoy xxx
